At the Mountains of Madness
Howard Phillips Lovecraft (1936)
█ Beautifully written, with scientific
█ mannerisms particularly appealing to
█ a geographer-in-the-making such as my-
█ self. Lots of delightful Gallicisms
█ and archaisms such as "Esquimaux" and
█ "aëroplane". Wouldn't have noticed the
█ classist undertones without the pre-
█ pended analysis. Notions of cultural
█ "degeneration" and the specification
█ of "white simians" were more blatant.
